Momentum-dependent corrections of the time-of-flight detector in the BM@N experiment

In the current work it is necessary to correct the track parameters in the TOF detector for light mesons (pions and kaons) depending on the particle momentum.

Tasks

The participant is invited to:
-learn the process of experimental data calibration in the BmnRoot software package
-learn how to extract basic physics information of experimental data

Preliminary schedule by topics/tasks

First 3 weeks:
-installing, configuring and learning the basics of the BmnRoot
-learning the BM@N experimental data format
-exploring the basics of track parameters corrections

Remaining 4 weeks:
-writing programs to estimate momentum-dependent coordinate residuals of tracks on TOF plane
-implementation of estimated corrections to experimental data

Required skills

work in Linux, good C++ and STL, English

Acquired skills and experience

The student will learn how to work with experimental and simulated data in high-energy physics, become familiar with working in a collaboration, and take the first steps in investigating the properties of mesons obtained in an experiment.
